Onboarding
Spotify accepts applications from companies, not individuals. Spotify’s tools will come with legal, licensing and technical considerations, and final approval for commercial use is always up to the discretion of Spotify and its partners.
There are two ways of onboarding with us:
-
Onboarding with a Systems Integrator. Preferred and recommended option. A Systems Integrator is a company that supports your integration with turnkey solutions (integrating the Spotify Embedded SDK binary into their own SDK), offering hardware modules, software, and services that can help you build your integration and get certified faster.
-
Onboarding without a Systems Integrator. Use this method only if you want to integrate a digital voice assistant such as Amazon Alexa or Google assistance on your Spotify Connect enabled device.
Onboarding with a Systems Integrator
Using a Systems Integrator often simplifies the integration and certification process. Most of the tasks go through the Systems Integrator. We have a process for it, where they work as the point of contact for Spotify and your brand. The Systems Integrator will also help with support, issues, and any process-related questions.
To understand the minimum requirements please also go read through the different requirement sections on this site.
What you need to do to get started:
- Submit a Hardware Partner Application.
- Sign the Embedded SDK Evaluation Agreement and NDA. Once approved by Spotify, you will receive a link to the document.
Once steps 1 & 2 are done, reach out to your Systems Integrator and they will guide you through the integration process and get you started and prepare for certification and launching.
If you don't know any Systems Integrator, feel free to reach out to one of our currently approved ones:
- Conversdigital
- DTS/play-fi
- Frontier Smart Technologies
- Librewireless
- Linkplay
- Qualcomm
- StreamUnlimited
Onboarding without a Systems Integrator
If you are not using a Systems Integrator, the process is as follows:
- Submit a Hardware Partner Application.
- Sign the Embedded SDK Evaluation Agreement and NDA. Once approved by Spotify, an email will be sent with a link to the New Product Application Form.
- Fill out the New Product Application Form for each new device that requires a Spotify Connect integration.
- Request access to the Spotify Helpdesk tool.. You'll find the link to the Helpdesk tool in the welcome email.
What's next?
Once these steps are completed, access will be granted to Certomato to start the implementation phase. This tool provides:
- Access to the latest version of the eSDK.
- Automated certification and integration testing using one single tool. Be aware that all tests must pass in Certomato in order for your device to get certified with Spotify Connect.
- A reliable environment for developing and submitting your product against our latest requirements.
- Manage and submit new product application(s) for certification.
- Sign distribution agreement.
