You can now use the Spotify Connect Web API to start playing tracks from any position using the Start a User’s Playback endpoint.

Since beginning of June updated Spotify Play Button has been gradually rolled out to all users. We have introduced a couple of new features and laid the groundwork for the future of Spotify Play Button.

Update: Due to technical issues, we have rolled back the change originally scheduled for 11th September 2018. We will communicate a new date for the change as soon as we have one.
